Meru AP400 Series Access Point

EOL your Ethernet switches: Designed for seamless migration from wired edge to the New Mobile Edge

Capacity, flexibility and reliability

The Meru AP400 Series access points, is the first 802.11n wireless product to be specifically designed to create a software programmable edge architecture and accelerate the elimination of the wiring closet.

With a three radio design and Meru's patented Virtualized Wireless LAN technology, the AP400 Series access points are designed to allow enterprises to use virtualization to re-architect the edge of enterprise networks and tackle the industry's toughest wireless workloads.

The platform is optimized to service the new generation of mobile devices such as iPads, iPhones, Android-based smartphones and tablets, and supports the user's need to access high definition (HD) video, wireless VoIP and other multi-media applications. The AP400 Mobile Edge platform also leverages Meru's patent-pending Orthogonal Array Beam FormingTM technology and next generation sub-carrier level beam forming to deliver Adaptive OptimizationTM. This new innovative capability is designed to deliver the highest performance and consistent quality-of-service (QoS) for low-power multi-media mobile devices

Wireless capacity & performance

It doesn't stop here. The AP400 has a USB port that allows extension with a fourth radio to even increase the capacity or to add a 3G backbone option to the system so you can add an AP anywhere you would like.

Engineered for an aggregate capacity that exceeds 1.3 Gbps and 380 simultaneous mobile clients with three radios, the AP400 Series has the ability to more than double the capacity of any enterprise solution for Wi-Fi smartphones, iPads, tablets and other wireless devices available today. The four radio option boosts this to over 1.8Gbps of capacity and over 500 users per AP!

With software configurable operating modes designed to reduce and ultimately eliminate wired edge switches, these access points define the new campus Mobile Edge - an edge network architecture that is purpose built for mobility, drastically reduces unnecessary investment in Ethernet switching, and prepares enterprises for the mobile workforce and ubiquitous cloud applications. Therefore, the system also supports mesh (wireless distribution mode) with a configurable number of radios participating in this backbone offering a 900Mbps up to 1.8Gbps wireless backbone.

Software configurable edge services include:

  • WLAN 500TM Mode: Maximize client density and capacity by using all radios
for multiple channel layers to let one AP deal with 500 clients in 500-square foot area

WLAN 500 mode

  • Application Segregation Mode: Dedicated spectrum for mission-critical applications
