As a long time partner of Multicap, Prodata Systems convinced with Veolia yet another major new customer for their ticketing application. Like Arriva, the bus company covering most of the north of The Netherlands, Veolia recently decided to deploy Multicap’s CommBox on its bus connections. As such, all major players on the Dutch public transport market have now become, indirectly, Multicap customers.
Veolia is planning its first implementations in Dutch Limburg, the south easternmost province in The Netherlands. A key role in this success story is played by the CommBox. After analyzing the requirements of several public transport organizations and their suppliers, Multicap developed a communication platform that yields quite some success on the public transport market Its unique features allow setting up secure and manageable wireless connections with both the exploitation seats of the transport companies and the national TLS network. Those connections run over GPRS, UMTS, EDGE and WLAN. TLS should ensure that any ticket bought from any Dutch company can further be used on the buses, taxis, trains or trams of other companies as well. The entire system should be fully operational by the end of 2009 at the latest.
