Armstrong SA implementeert 5 Multicap Digi UMTS routers voor remote monitoring

A couple of months ago, we announced both the release of the first UMTS 4-port router and we described the first projects realized through this new product. We did that to emphasize the versatility of the Digi UMTS ConnectPortWAN. And we also expressed our hopes and expectations for future realizations with it.

Both turned out to be justified. Meanwhile several tens of units have been installed, be it definitively or temporarily. We are very thankful to one of our valued resellers, Armstrong SA from Liege, who were so kind to provide us some info on where and how our Digi UMTS routers are being deployed. Mr. Rossen Ivanov (Armstrong SA) explains: “Actually, we integrate those routers into our monitoring system used in industrial steam installations. Normally, our system is connected to the internet via a LAN or via an ADSL line. However, such a LAN connection might sometimes not be possible for IT security reasons (it requires an opening in the firewall) and ADSL lines are not always physically available on industrial sites where our monitoring system is implemented. So, the main advantage for us is that we could quickly and easily get our monitoring system connected to the internet (data are stocked in a website). This allows us also to remotely maintain our implementations.” “Thus, we operate as an integrator of this equipment into a complete monitoring system for industrial steam installations. The first 5 Digi UMTS routers have been installed at Nestlé (UK and France (food production)), Shell (Holland (petrochemical industry)) and InBev (Belgium (large international brewery concern). Those examples are representative of what our public of customers stands for.” As a conclusion, one could say that the Digi UMTS router is extremely interesting to provide temporary, remote and back-up access.
