ConnectPort™ WAN VPN
The ConnectPort WAN VPN is an upgradeable, commercial-grade 3G cellular router that provides secure high speed wireless connectivity to remote sites and devices. It can be used for primary wireless broadband network connectivity to equipment (e.g. metering devices) at remote locations, as well as for a backup to existing landline communications. The application scope is both wide and various: utilities, industrial automation (telemetrics), POS/retail, financial (ATMs), traffic, medical environments, video surveillance, events, etc.

It fills a huge gap on various markets such as wireless video transmission, metering, remote access provision on yards, etc. Thanks to this 4-port gateway, UMTS connectivity is now available over Ethernet, with which it comes across a long-time market demand. Such an Ethernet UMTS implementation may also serve as Internet back-up in case your regular (W)LAN network would fail. With such an upgradeable wireless network platform, customers are able to quickly migrate to future 3G platforms and beyond with supported Type 2 PCMCIA Card slots or PCI Express modules. Also included are two RS-232 serial ports for connecting legacy COM devices and a built-in four-port 10/100 Ethernet switch for connecting additional TCP/IP network devices. The ConnectPort WAN supports both CDMA EvDO Rev. A and GSM HSDPA/UMTS 3G networks. With the Sierra Wireless MC8775 PCi Express module (see picture above), it is today possible to attain downstream HSDPA data rates of 3.6Mbps! Customers that create larger networks with the Digi UMTS products might need the comfort of monitoring their routers. Therefore, Digi created the Digi Connectware® Manager, an enterprise remote device management software, enables users to easily view, configure and monitor one or thousands of remote devices. Receive email alerts, integrate with DNS server or incorporate with your network management software. For applications requiring secure connections, ConnectPort WAN VPN offers an available integrated IPsec VPN client/server for true end-to-end data protection.
